COUPER (Callin), Joan Christine (nee Dickens) born in Montreal, Quebec on June 29th, 1937, passed away peacefully on May 14th, 2024 in Chilliwack, British Columbia at the age of 86, after a long journey with dementia. Predeceased by husbands William J. Callin in 1999 and Henry (Bud/Hank) S. Couper in 2004, brother Lloyd Dickens in 1986, sister Adele Vallee in 2016, and devoted son-in-law Christopher Ells in 2022. Survived by loving and devoted children Lynda Ells and Terrance (Terry) Callin and his wife Mary-Jane (nee Reid). Also survived by loving grandchildren Kristin Ells, Jennifer (nee Ells) and her husband Jordan Mcmillan, Amanda (nee Callin) and her husband Bill Young, and Joseph Callin; dearly loved great-grandchildren Jonathan, Carter, Logan and Kaylee-Jayne Young; Elise and Brennan Mcmillan. Also survived by Bud’s children Earle Couper, Marilyn and her husband Larry Schroeder, Geoffrey Couper and his wife Michelle (nee Wille) and their families, also by family members of Adele Vallee’s of Ormstown, Quebec.
Joan was a loving, caring, and selfless wife, mother, mother-in-law, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother (Namana) and friend. She enjoyed the simple things in life – sunrises, sunsets, falling snow, the ocean, flowers, babies, a good book, classical music and all things Irish. She had fond memories of growing up in Beaurepaire, Quebec, picnics at Spanish Banks and walks around Mill Lake.
The family wish to thank the team that cared for Joan at Eden Care Centre the past 5 ½ years.
No funeral service or flowers at Joan’s request. If desired, donations may be made to a charity of choice. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
