In 1973 Shirley and her husband Emiddio “Dee” moved to Las Vegas, NV from South Orange, New Jersey. It was there that they opened their first deli, “DiMartino’s Italian Deli” with their children; Ricky, Terese, David, Mark, Gigi & Aimee. Shortly thereafter, the deli became “DiMartino’s Italian Restaurant.” For 30 years DiMartino’s was one of the premier Italian restaurants in Las Vegas. The DiMartino’s restaurant encompassed Shirley’s love and passion for Italian food, and family. Everyone that entered was treated as such. Shirley liked simplicity and warmth in her surroundings. Her philosophy “simple good food is beautiful.”
Shirley DiMartino was a kind and caring Mother of 7, Grandmother of 9, and Great Grandmother of 7. All of which were her pride and joy. Shirley loved watching tennis and having a good laugh. She encouraged all around her. Her love was felt everywhere, but most of all in her cooking. Shirley could fix just about any problem with a well cooked meal. Anyone who has had the pleasure to taste her cooking knew it was something special.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother who was cherished by many. She is missed dearly.
