Mary J. Schifani, born June 22, 1925, was called to heaven on May 15, 2024, at the young age of 98. Mary was born in Paris, Texas and moved around the state frequently in her childhood as a sharecropper's daughter.
She graduated from Jeff Davis High School in 1943 and proceeded to work with Linde Chemical Company for a short period of time. Mary met her husband, Richard Schifani, while in high school and married on March 26, 1946. Richard Schifani proceeded Mary's death in January of 2017 and the family takes comfort in knowing they are together again.
Mary was in her happy place when surrounded by family at the dinner table eating her perfectly prepared food and sharing a joke here and there. She always had time to lend an ear to a friend who needed a confidant and offer sage advice. She will truly be missed by many.
Mary was proceeded in death by her parents, George Washington Powers and Zelma Reece Powers, grandsons; Stephen Schifani, and Richard Gibbs. She is survived by 4 children and their families, listed below.
Son, Michael Schifani ( wife Kathy ) and 4 grandchildren; Eugene Schifani
( wife Laura ), Jackie Kelso ( wife Danette ), Bridgett Kelso, and proceeded in death by Stephen Schifani. 10 great grandchildren; Allison, Cheyenne, Hagen
( wife Hannah ), Skylar, Hannah, Tristen, Hank, Camryn, Brenna, and Braeden.
2 great great grandchildren; Luka and Hux.
Daughter, Linda Bell ( husband Charles ) and 2 grandchildren; Jennifer Fitzgerald and Cheri Bell. 2 great grandchildren; Ethan and Colin.
Son, Donald Schifani ( wife Pat ), and 6 grandchildren; Jeana Fowler
( husband Sam ), Kristie Harris ( fiancé Jarrod Aiken ), Lisa Schifani ( Thomas Hopkins ), Brandie Stratton ( husband Jason ), Stephanie Gibbs, and proceeded in death by Richard Gibbs. 8 great grandchildren; Ryan, Jayson, Karson, Konner, Lauren, Skyler, Abrum, and Aubrey.
Daughter, Janis Hammond ( husband Gregg ), and 2 grandchildren; Cory Hammond and Lindsay Webber ( husband Justin ). 4 great grandchildren; Dillon, Kaiden, Audrey, and Chance.

Graveside service will be held at Forest Park Lawndale on June 10, 2024 at 2 pm.
