With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, grandfather and cherished friend, Doug Lundberg. He departed this world on April 26th 2024, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, unyielding integrity, and unwavering love. A memorial service will be held at 10 AM Saturday, May 11, 2024 at McLaren's Resthaven Chapel, with a burial to follow.
Doug was born May 30th, 1955 in Fort Dodge, IA to Gordon and Clarice Lundberg. He was united in marriage to Becky Nordstrom on April 26, 1975. Together they raised their family in Dayton, IA. Doug worked for his parents in the family business, Lundberg Plumbing and Heating which he later took over ownership. After several years, Doug and Becky moved to West Des Moines, IA where Doug continued to work in the HVAC and Plumbing vocation. Doug retired in 2022.
He was a man of many talents and endless wit. His tireless work ethic was matched only by his ability to effortlessly connect with others, sparking conversations that left lasting impressions on all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He approached life with honesty as his guiding principle, earning the respect and admiration of all who crossed his path.
But it was within the walls of his home where Doug Lundberg truly shone brightest. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he poured his heart and soul into his family, shaping countless cherished memories with his love and support. Doug enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. His eyes would light up with joy the moment he saw them. He was always so proud to hear of their accomplishments and looked forward to supporting them in all their activities.
Yet, Doug Lundberg was not without his mischievous side. His ornery nature added a spark of mischief to every gathering, his playful banter keeping spirits high and hearts light. His laughter filled the room, his jokes bringing joy to even the most somber of occasions.
Doug Lundberg was preceded in death by his parents Gordon and Clarice Lundberg. He is survived by his wife Becky Lundberg, children Phil (Ann) Lundberg, Amanda (Jeroen) Lundberg, and 5 grandchildren (Sam, Miah, Tatum, Malena, and Amisha). Siblings Denise (Randy) Lehman, Diane (Scott) Engquist, and David (Laura) Lundberg. Sister-in law Janet (Bill) Kahler.
In his honor, let us strive to embody the qualities that defined Doug Lundberg's life: hard work, honesty, love for his family, and a sense of humor that could brighten even the darkest of days.
Rest in peace. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
