Anthony, fondly known as Tony, was born to parents Ernest and Elizabeth Manifold in Surrey, England on November 21, 1934. He graduated from Keble College at the University of Oxford with a degree in modern languages in 1958 and received his masters in 1979. He emigrated with his family to the United States in 1982 which fulfilled a lifelong dream of his. After completing a successful career in international marketing, he founded The Grape Press as a freelance wine writer and served on the board of the American Institute of Wine & Food in Boston.
Anthony spent his most recent years residing in Longboat Key and Bradenton, Florida. He was well known for his love of family, sharp wit, and passion for languages, travel, and tennis.
Anthony was predeceased by his wife Hannelore Manifold to whom he was married to for 62 years, and his brother Laurie Manifold. He is survived by his daughters Camilla Solomon and Shelley Berquist (Eric Berquist), and grandchildren Jesse Solomon, Maya Solomon, Jack Berquist and Lucy Berquist.
A private celebration of Anthony’s life will be held in the Bradenton area in June.
